The Truth: You were born creative. There was a time when you made things simply because it brought you joy-

when you painted, sketched, sculpted, or crafted without hesitation or judgment.

But somewhere along the way, life took over.

Responsibilities mounted. Inner critics grew louder.

The voice that once said, “yes” to creative play learned to say “maybe later” or “I’m not good enough.”

Your creativity didn’t disappear- it’s been waiting.

Buried beneath years of obligations and self-doubt,

your creative soul is ready to re-emerge.

Artroots is your invitation back.

"This isn’t about becoming an artist.

It’s about remembering you already are one."

The PNW Artroots Experience

Permission to Begin Again- No experience required. No pressure to produce. No judgment. Just you, materials, and the freedom to explore.

Guided Creative Awakening-  Thoughtfully designed sessions led by local artists who understand the journey from dormancy to creative flow. They’ll guide you gently past blocks and into expressive freedom.

Joyful Exploration Across Mediums- Pottery, acrylics, fiber arts, alcohol inks, watercolors, encaustics, collage, clay. Try what calls to you. Discover what lights you up. There’s no commitment to mastery- only invitation to play.

Process as the Point- Here, the mess matters more than the masterpiece. The exploration matters more than the outcome.

Space to Breathe- Time built in for reflection, wandering, and simply being. Creativity needs room to unfold.

The Magic of the Pacific Northwest- Just beyond Seattle’s vibrant energy, find legendary summer light. Forests, mountains, and water that inspire without effort.

  • Your creative roots, restored- The foundation from which everything else can grow

  • You want permission to play without pressure to perform

Art Zowie's Artroots

My own creative journey started with graphic design, a field I freelanced in for many years. Then one night I had a dream—I was coloring the world, and I couldn't stop coloring everywhere I went. When I told my friend about the dream, she showed up a few weeks later with a wrapped gift: a small set of paints and a brush. I eventually picked up that brush and started to paint. I kept painting, finding my voice in textures and color.

I became a primarily self-taught mixed media artist, experimenting my way through mediums and materials at every turn. In 2024 I was feeling stagnate in my art, (perhaps my life as a whole) I signed-up for the Art2Life Creative Visionary Program. Participating in the program quite literally altered me. I learned to play in my art. I reconnected with the pure joy of making, of painting with no intent, of discovering new pieces of myself while making playful entries into my daily art journal.

I founded Art Zowie to bring that same joy to people who hadn't touched a brush perhaps since childhood.

I love watching people re-awaken their innate creativity—

their roots, their joy of just painting, molding clay, collaging, trying new mediums, and making art from the heart.

I believe we are all artists and that play is essential.

That connection to the very roots of what art-making is all about—

expressing our inner need to create—matters more than what we produce.

It doesn't matter what we create as long as we are creating and finding ourselves in the process.

Artroots Retreat was born from this belief and from the magic of the Pacific Northwest, where I've found my own creative home.

Here, just beyond Seattle's vibrant energy, the landscape itself invites me to keep exploring- there is always more to discover!

We created Artroots to offer you a safe place, a space where you can learn, play, explore, and find artistic tranquility.

Artroots is the place where you will reconnect with the creative soul you've always been.

I'm excited to see you on your own Artroots journey!

Peace. Community. Art.
